Mind Zone - Mazdak Jafarian

City is a mind-zone that flows through the minds of its people. The physicality of city is in interaction with interpretations of its people, their memories, and their wills. City changes the minds of people and it’s being changed by these minds. Evolution, proliferation, growth, and metamorphosis of every individual affects the behavior of system.
In contrast with this order, the people deal with not only the physicality of city and visible constructions but also always behave unconsciously according to the invisible organizations which control them: a sort of global order which manipulates and regulates the city.
In this regard, city is a dialectical phenomenon which is going back and forward between being subjective and objective. Since the designer cannot and should not design the minds of people, and since the city is nothing more than minds of the citizens, city cannot be designed as an object by architect. Any decision for formulation, behavior and function of this organism is affected by the behavior of city’s mutating components. City is an interactive and ever-mutating interface between designer/organizer’s mind and people’s thoughts, emotions, and decisions.
